The JSystem Resource Manager manages all resources in the testing lab, which are needed in order to conduct the system tests.
The JSystem Resource Manager maps available resources (testing software and hardware) to their clients (systems under test) in order to create the test setups. While the tests run, the Resource Manager allocates resources to the different tests, informing a client when a particular resource has been freed so it can proceed with a test. The Resource Manager thus enables a lab to run multiple tests that share the same resources. This not only streamlines testing and reduces testing time – it also ensures maximum utilization of expensive testing equipment.
A typical deployment of the JSystem Resource Manager is a test lab for a telecom product: using the Resource Manager the testing team can run several nightly tests in parallel, using shared testing equipment such as sniffers, network analyzers and traffic generators.
